Venus In Furs A sweet first single I presume from Jesse's forthcoming new album... This one feels a bit light and breezy compared to the thick distorted guitars on Marble Son--more of a traditional folk sound but still draped in her hypnotic midnight howls. Looking forward to the new album in full and a tour that comes down the coast from Seattle to the Mojave desert of California for a stint at Pappy and Harriet's Pioneertown Palace.

lyrics

I gave you my heart,
I gave you my song,
I gave you everything.

But I’m not around,
to see you downtown,
cuz I’m drifting down.

In our rag tag clothes,
down at the pier,
we'd drink our beer.

And we would call out,
to those "Nordstrom Gals,"
with their fancy shoes,
and their heads in the clouds.
Oh, their heads in the clouds.

Can you hear Baby Gramps?
He’s over on Pike,
he sings into the night.

And those Chicken Hawks,
over on Pine, well, they wanted a boy,
younger than I,
Oh…younger than I.

And if you’re alive,
lean into the pain,,
“Tell me your name, boy?”

“My name is Dewayne"…
"De -wayne.”

And I gave you my heart,
I gave you my song,
I gave you everything.

But I’m not around,
to see you downtown,
cuz I’m drifting down.
Ohhh… drifting...

They scattered my ashes in Elliott Bay,
a wind from the west
blew me away….

And down from the Strait, of Juan de Fuca,
beneath Puget Sound,
I’m drifting down,
Oh, I’m drifting down.

Down…
